OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES.

No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your odds of winning. All federal, state, local, and municipal laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.

The competition is open to amateurs and professionals. There is no limit to the number of images that can be submitted. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.

The pictures can be from any season of the year. Winning entries will be published in a calendar for the year 2013 on a non-exclusive basis. A total of 13 prizes will be awarded. The 13 winning images will be published in the "Seabrook Photo Challenge" calendar for 2013, which is distributed locally.

Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo. In the event that ownership of any photograph submitted to Seabrook Photo Challenge is contested in any manner, Seabrook Photo Challenge retains the discretion to disqualify that photograph and discontinue use of the photograph. Your submission is your agreement that the photo can be used by Seabrook Photo Challenge without notification or renumeration.

Seabrook Photo Challenge panel will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified. Entries will be evaluated based on appeal, content and photographic skill. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition judging and Seabrook Photo Challenge.

Winners will be notified approximately 15 days after the contest deadline by phone or email using the information on the entry form.

Digital images should be submitted using the online entry form. Images must be formatted horizontally (vertical and panoraic photographs will not be considered)and no smaller than 600 by 450 pixels. Images should be submitted in JPG (high quality) or TIFF format. File sizes must be less than 10MB per image. Entries may be color or black and white digital scans (no allowances will be made for poor-quality scans). Please do not send prints or slides to Seabrook Photo Challenge.

Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.

Not Permitted:

  • No borders or frames may be added to images.
  • No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images (All winning images will be displayed with the photographer's name).
  • Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted.
  • Artistic filters are not permitted.

Permitted Modifications:

  • Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above.
  • Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
  • Red-eye removal and spot editing
  • One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.)
  • Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.
  • Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.

Please note that Seabrook Photo Challenge does not allow names, logos or writing on photo entries. These markings must be removed prior to submission.

Seabrook Photo Challenge is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, Seabrook Photo Challenge is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. Seabrook Photo Challenge reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond Seabrook Photo Challenge's control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. Seabrook Photo Challenge reserves the right to change the contest rules without prior notification. Seabrook Photo Challenge is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final.

By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless Seabrook Photo Challenge and its employees from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. Seabrook Photo Challenge and its employees assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.

Participant agrees that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved with the Companies, and causes of action arising out of or connected with Seabrook Photo Challenge, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, before a court of competent jurisdiction located in Thurston County, Washington, which court shall apply the laws of Washington without regard for rules of conflicts of law. In any such dispute, participant shall, under no circumstances, be entitled to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys' fees associated with participating in Seabrook Photo Challenge. Participant hereby waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

Any attempt by an entrant or other individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of Seabrook Photo Challenge is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Seabrook reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Seabrook is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in Seabrook Photo Challenge, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions to Seabrook Photo Challenge, including but not limited to any misprints or typographical errors. Seabrook assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Seabrook is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer equipment, servers, providers, computer on-line systems, software, or failure of email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, including injury or damage to participant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or uploading images or information in Seabrook Photo Challenge.
